Looking for Organic /Sustainable farming wisdom

I may have an opportunity to decide if I want to change my vocation. I may be able to acquire a 150 Acre farm off the grid with some help from some friends. I for one have zero practical knowledge of farming, particularly using general methods from the 50's. I need good solid wisdom that folks in this area have to balance my book learning. My possible location is in the Ozarks more to the SE section of Missouri.
Is there anybody willing to verify / share/ help with information? I could go into greater detail but am without detailed information, I have a location buddy "farm sitting" this winter and will have all kinds of info after that. Meanwhile I want to go to the University of Wisdom and also need to sell my citygal wife completely on the idea and process. I am looking to a year or so for the event to happen (or sooner if not so fortunate)
