I didn't know about "over worked" and mobile issues!! Thanks for enlightening me!! Bees fed antibiotics!!! This system is "SICK!" No wonder people are so unhealthy!

One more reason to support our local food supply!

Several local apiary owners have shared their own theory behind the CCD numbers. Traveling hives, trucked cross-country from crop to crop (some hardly get a "winter" rest), are often overworked. Fed sugar solutions and antibiotics on a regular basis, the bees become less hardy, less able to recover from mites & stress (and yes, GMO/GE/Pesticide Use/Other Conventional Crop Methods may be contributing to added stress for some bees). Local, stable hives are far less affected - some of our beekeepers actually had fantastic honey output last year (some hives, harvested in July, were full and capped again by August).
